Any person performing radiologic procedures under the supervision
of a licensed Texas physician must be registered with the Texas Medical Board
as required under Chapter
194 of the board rules. The physician must also be registered with
the board to supervise the non-certified technician.
A non-certified technician (NCT) must
be listed on the registry with the Texas
Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) and meet one
of the following qualifications on or after January 1, 1998:
- completion of a mandatory training program, or
- if licensed as a physician assistant in the State of Texas, completion of a
mandatory training program or have met the alternate training requirements,
or if the NCT is not listed on the registry, the NCT may:
- perform radiologic procedures for a physician to whom a hardship
exemption was granted by the TDSHS within the previous year.
