2007 Board Rules Changes

The following is a summary of the changes effective on December 30, 2007.

Chapter 173, Physician Profiles, amending 173.1, Profile Contents, updating the name of  the
Board; 173.2, Profile Update and Correction Form, making it a violation for a physician to omit required information from the physician’s profile; and 173.5, Updates to the Physician’s Profile Due to Information Received by a Third Party, adding when amendments may be made by the Board to a physician’s profile.

Chapter 196, Voluntary Relinquishment or Surrender of a Medical License, amending 196.2, Surrender Associated with Disciplinary Action, updating language; and 196.3, Surrender Associated with Impairment, updating language.

Chapter 198, Unlicensed Practice, amending 198.2, Complaints, to make appropriate updates; and 198.3, Investigation of Complaints, to clarify provisions and make appropriate updates.

Chapter 199, Public Information, amending 199.1, Public Information Committee, to require the committee to provide oversight of the Board’s website; 199.3, Requests for Information, amending language to allow for requests for information by fax; 199.4, Charges for Copies of Public Records, updating the name of the Board and references to the Office of the Attorney General; and 199.5, Notice of Ownership Interest in a Niche Hospital, specifies that physicians who have an ownership interest in a niche hospital must report that interest to the Department of State Health Services.
