On October 24, 2025, a disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily restricted, with notice, the Texas medical license of Christine Itata, M.D. (Lic. No. R8382), after determining her continuation in the unrestricted practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The restriction was effective immediately.
Dr. Itata’s license is restricted under the following terms: shall not possess, administer, distribute, or prescribe controlled substances in Texas; shall not use her Texas license in any jurisdiction to diagnose, treat, or prescribe dangerous drugs or controlled substances or engage in the practice of pain management in Texas; and shall not be permitted to supervise or delegate prescriptive authority to a physician assistant or advanced practice nurse or supervise a surgical assistant.
The Board panel found that Dr. Itata failed to practice medicine in an acceptable professional manner, failed to follow standard of care, failed to maintain adequate medical records, and failed to adhere to guidelines and requirements for the management of chronic pain.
The temporary restriction remains in place until the Board takes further action.
