April 10, 2024

On April 4, 2024, a disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily restricted, with notice, the Texas medical license of Andrew Lovett Jones, M.D., (Lic. No. R6422) after determining his continuation in the unrestricted practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The restriction was effective immediately.

Dr. Jones’ license is restricted under the following terms: shall not possess, administer, distribute, or prescribe controlled substances in Texas other than prescriptions written to him by a licensed provider for personal use; and shall not be permitted to supervise or delegate prescriptive authority to a physician assistant or advanced practice nurse or supervise a surgical assistant.

The Board panel found that Dr. Jones failed to meet the standard of care and nontherapeutically prescribed high volumes of controlled substances to chronic pain patients in dangerous and redundant combinations with little protection for patient safety.

The temporary restriction remains in place until the Board takes further action.
