On December 20, 2024, a disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Nathan Robert Starke, M.D. (Lic. No. R3597), after determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.
The Board panel found that Dr. Starke participated in several surgeries in August and September of 2024 while appearing impaired. On September 6, 2024, Houston Methodist suspended Dr. Starke. On or about October 15, 2024, he tested positive for cocaine. Dr. Starke signed an Interim Monitoring Agreement with TMB but did not begin testing.
A temporary suspension hearing with notice will be held as soon as practicable with 10 days' notice to Dr. Starke, unless the hearing is specifically waived by Dr. Starke.
The temporary suspension remains in place until the Board takes further action.
