The Texas Medical Board has partnered with CE Broker, an online continuing education compliance platform, to assist all licensees in meeting the state's statutory continuing education coursework requirements by helping them find CE opportunities and track and report coursework.

CE Broker

Here's what you need to know to get started with CE Broker today:

  1. You do not have to pay for a CE Broker Basic account.  All TMB licensees may establish a free, basic account with CE Broker. Licensees do have the option to subscribe to an upgraded account, which offers additional CE tracking tools.

  2. CE Broker is optional until September 1, 2026. Prior to that date, licensees are required to use CE Broker only if selected for an audit. The TMB will conduct the audit through CE Broker.

  3. Coming September 1, 2026.   Due to recent legislation, continuing education compliance for all health care practitioners must be verified through a continuing education tracking system BEFORE RENEWAL. The TMB will maintain its collaboration with CE Broker to fulfill this mandate.

Licensees renewing on or after September 1, 2026 will be required to:

  • Have an active, basic CE Broker account
  • Ensure all completed CE coursework is reported in CE Broker

Licensees are strongly encouraged to set up a CE Broker account now! Doing so will allow ample time to get familiar with the platform, so you are fully prepared when the requirement takes effect.

Information on CE Broker can be found on the CE Broker website.

FAQs

No. There are three different account plans available for TMB licensees. A "Basic" CE Broker account is always FREE. The Professional and Concierge accounts require an annual fee. https://cebroker.com/tx/plans

*NOTE: Please take care when exploring plan options on the CE Broker website. CE Broker does offer a 7-day free trial of their “Professional” plan, but it will require payment information upfront since this plan type does require an annual fee once the trial period ends.

Currently, licensees are only required to use CE Broker if they are selected for an audit.

If you are selected for an audit, you will receive a letter and email containing instructions on how to complete this process using CE Broker. If a licensee already has a CE Broker account, they simply need to ensure that all of their CE for the specified audit period is uploaded into the account. TMB will be able to access their account and verify compliance via CE Broker. If a licensee does not have a CE Broker account, they will need to create one and upload all of their CE credits.

A free, basic account is all that is required to comply with the audit requirements. However, once a licensee is selected for an audit, CE Broker will automatically upgrade their account for free - for the duration of the audit - to a more premium version that provides additional tools to help further simplify CE tracking and compliance. Once the audit is complete, CE Broker will automatically switch licensees back to a free, basic account unless they proactively choose to pay for an upgraded option.

No. At this time licensees must resubmit the courses for Texas to count toward that license.
