TMB Disciplines 21 Physicians at August Meeting

At its August 15, 2025, meeting, the Texas Medical Board disciplined 21 licensed physicians. 

 

The disciplinary actions included: one order related to impairment, two orders related to nontherapeutic prescribing, seven orders related to peer review or other states’ actions, six orders related to standard of care, one order related to unprofessional conduct, one voluntary surrender, and three Mediated Settlement Agreed Orders. 

 

 

DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS 

 

TMB Suspends Houston Physician (Dunbar)

On August 13, 2025, a disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Dwayne Dunbar, M.D. (Lic. No. U4791), after determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately. 

 

The Board panel found that on July 31, 2025, Dr. Dunbar was arrested for Sexual Assault of a Child, a second-degree felony. 

 

TMB Suspends Dallas Physician (Bean)

On August 13, 2025, a disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Lawrence Albert Bean, M.D. (Lic. No. M1503), after determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.

 

The Board panel found that on June 16, 2025, the Heath Police Department arrested Dr. Bean for Indecency with a Child, a second-degree felony.

 

Glena W. Yates

Glena Yates, of Horseshoe Bay, is the former president of the Central Texas Land Titles, Inc. She is a board member of the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center and the former president of the Texas Wine & Grape Growers Association. Yates received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Texas (UT) at Austin.

Andrew J. “Jimmy” Widmer, M.D.

Andrew “Jimmy” Widmer, M.D., of Belton, is a General Internist for Baylor Scott and White Health. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and the Bell County Medical Society. Widmer received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University, Master of Medical Sciences from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine from the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
